Boehner plans to campaign for Demmer

Boehner
Republican congressional candidate Randy Demmer will get a big political fundraising boost later this month. House Minority Leader John Boehner is planning to come to Minnesota to campaign for the candidate.

Demmer, of Hayfield, is running for the 1st Congressional District seat held by DFL Rep. Tim Walz of Mankato. Also running for the seat is Independence Party candidate Steven Wilson of Rochester and no-party candidate Lars Johnson of Rochester.

Demmer's campaign manager Jason Flohrs said they are still trying to hammer out the details about where the event will be and when. But he said Boehner is tentatively scheduled to host a fundraiser for Demmer on Aug. 30. The Star Tribune also has a blog post about the upcoming visit.

Flohrs said the campaign is excited to welcome the House Minority Leader to Minnesota.

"We're just happy he is coming out because it does highlight the importance of this race," he said.
