Pfeilsticker to seek rematch with Drazkowski
Little more than three months after losing to GOP Rep. Steve Drazkowski in a special election, DFL challenger Linda Pfeilsticker says she wants a rematch.
The 36-year-old Winona Senior High School teacher was expected to announce her candidacy for House District 28B this weekend, almost a year before the 2008 general election.
Pfeilsticker, who lost to Drazkowski 53 percent to 47 percent in an Aug. 7 special election, said a factor in her decision to run again is the encouragement she is receiving from supporters.
She said one reason she believes the outcome will be different in 2008 is that she will have more time to campaign. In last summer's special election, Republican and Democratic candidates had little more than a month to campaign after former GOP Speaker of House Steve Sviggum announced his resignation. At the time of her announcement, Pfeilsticker was a relative unknown politically.
"We definitely started behind. I don't think there's any way we can say anything other than that," Pfeilsticker said. "I think it's something that will be very different this time."

Maybe Pfeilsticker would have enjoyed greater name recognition if the outside special interest groups who smeared Drazkowski on her behalf had spent as much time and money emphasizing her virtues.

I'm sorry, any candidate who writes a letter to a judge to ask to get out of child support so they can campaign more, shouldn't be running for public office. It's not a partisan issue. They should get a paying job and be responsible. Don't ask someone else to pay more for your kid if you don't want to.
