Mayopermitforjacobsontunnel Here's an interesting sign of things to come.

Mayo Proton Center - Rochester Exterior 09.13.10 Mayo Clinic filed a building permit application today to build the underground tunnel to connect the downtown Charlton Building to the future Jacobson Building, also known as the super duper proton beam radiation therapy complex.

The tunnel project is valued at $4.97 million on the application.

This is the $200 million or so project that Mayo Clinic first announced in November of 2010. In February, Mayo Clinic announced that a $100 million gift - its largest single donation ever - from Richard O. Jacobson of Iowa would help fund this cancer treatment center.
