Biz inflating its hours on the bounce
Business is hopping so much that a young Rochester operation is inflating its hours and pumping up plans for the summer.
When it began in October, Jolly Jumpz Bounce World at 4430 19th N.W. was only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
However, the popularity of the children's play place with giant inflatable toys and slides keeps bounding up.
So to meet the leaping demand, owner Kari McKenzie began a new seven-day-a-week schedule this week.
"People kept asking. We've been contacted by a lot of day cares, churches and other groups about being open on weekdays," she said.
Now Jolly Jumpz Bounce World is opening the doors at 10 a.m. every day except a noon start on Sunday.
To help customers make the hop to weekday jumping, admission is less than the weekend rate.
McKenzie is also mapping out plans for setting up some inflatable features outdoors once the fickle Minnesota weather warms up.
"Right now the building is full," she said.
The 15,000-square-foot indoor sports complex is packed with a rotating mix of 12 to 14 inflatable jumping features and slides.
Jolly Jumpz has a fleet of almost 40 inflatables and they travel well beyond Bounce World. McKenzie also rents them out for parties, festivals and special events.
She has a team of 15 to 17 staffers on hand for both the event business as well as the Bounce World complex.
"Of course, now that we're open seven days a week, I'm looking for more people," she says.

Good catch, Carl. I meant '...admission is less than the weekend rate.'
It is now fixed in the post.
