Soccer Advantage on a roll

While it has the advantage, a local sports retailer is heading toward its goal of being able to kick it in its own space.

Usa-world-cup-shirt Soccer Advantage is moving out of the Soccer World indoor facility after more than a year under that big roof.

"I was just going to have a small counter in Soccer World, then that grew into a small room, then into another small room and then we ran out of room," says owner and local soccer coach Dean Alcock. He owns the business with his wife, Lynn.

He is doubling his space to more than 1,800-square-feet with the move into the former Curves fitness center space, Suite 102 in 3160 Wellner Drive N.E. That puts it next to Color Me Mine and near the north Whistle Binkies Old World Pub.

With the World Cup starting soon, he plans to open his new store early next week with the shelves stocked with soccer shoes, clothing, accessories as well as World Cup jerseys and soccer balls.

"It really is southeast Minnesota's largest soccer store," he says.
The store is staffed by three employees in addition to Alcock and his family.
The deal was brokered by Darci Fenske of Paramark Real Estate and Mike Haley of Braasch Commercial Real Estate.
