Championship wrestling back to Roch.

Championship wrestling is on its way back to Rochester.

A while back I did a piece on the ECW wrestling syndicate that is a subset of the WWE. Don't ask me what those stand for, I don't remember.

Anyway on Jan. 10, WWE Raw Live will happen at the Mayo Civic Center along with a warm-up card of ECW matches.

Some of the wrestlers coming - for the fans out there - are John Cena, Chris Jericho, Mysterio, my old friend CM Punk, The Miz, Kelly Kelly, Finlay and the Boogeyman

My question is are you or someone you know going to this? Who are the fans locally? How much do they spend on tickets, PPV and other wrestling stuff.

Is there overlap with the Mixed Martial Arts fans?

This is big business and I'd like to know more about the attraction and what is spent on it.

Thanks.

ECW = Extreme Championship Wrestling.

I haven't watched wrestling since the 90s, but remember ECW. I guess for America, they were "extreme," but no clue what they're like anymore. By the way, much of the extreme stuff is actually real.

I am going to go to the event with nine other people. the day they went on sale me and my 2 friends where standing out side over night at the civic center to get tickets. if you want to know more i would talk to in person about it.

My wife thinks wrestling is real. She'd make for a great interview. She always wonders how the wrestlers don't get seriously injured; especially, when they kicked or hit in the "heh" b/c she says is obvious they they aren't wearing cups.

WRESTLING SUPERSTAR AND WWE SHAWN MICHAELS TRAINEE LANCE CADE MAKES AN EXCLUSIVE APPEARANCE AT MICKEY’S IRISH SALOON

More than Irish Eyes will be Smiling Saturday, January 10, 2009 Following the LIVE WWE Event at the Mayo Civic Center.

Rochester, MN – Lance K. McNaught is best known for wrestling on the Raw brand of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) under the ring name Lance Cade.
After being trained by Shawn Michaels, Cade made his debut in 1999, and worked in Japan before being signed to a developmental contract by WWE. He was assigned to Memphis Championship Wrestling, and later Heartland Wrestling Association, before ending up in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in 2003. In OVW, he formed a tag team with Mark Jindrak, and they were promoted to the Raw brand in June 2003. In 2004 the team split up, and Cade took time off after a knee injury, before returning to Raw with a new tag partner in Trevor Murdoch. The pair teamed together for almost three years, before they broke up in May 2008. Cade then entered a storyline with Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels, his original trainer.
Cade is a three-time World Tag Team Champion with Murdoch in WWE, and has also held the HWA Heavyweight Championship and HWA Tag Team Championship with both Steve Bradley and Mike Sanders. He is a former one-time TWA Television Champion in the Texas Wrestling Alliance.

Mickey’s Irish Saloon is quickly becoming a destination for big-name entertainment including live bands, U.F.C. style fighting and now live Professional Wrestling presented by Dale Gagne’s Wrestling Superstars – LIVE! (WSL). LANCE CADE appears LIVE at Mickey’s Irish Saloon on Saturday, January 10, 2009 beginning at 10 p.m., kicking off future live professional wrestling events at Mickey’s Irish Saloon in their outdoor, custom designed “mini arena”.

Although the WWE has gained national prominence, the AWA has always been a Minnesota “household name” in Professional Wrestling, originally started in 1959 by Verne Gagne. The AWA featured numerous Minnesota born and raised legends including former Minnesota Governor Jesse “The Body” Ventura, The Road Warriors, Larry “The Ax” Henning, Baron Von Raschke, Hulk Hogan, Mad Dog Vachon, Sheik Adnan Al Kassie, Nick Bockwinkel and numerous others.

Get your cameras out and head down Civic Center Drive Saturday, January 10, 2009 starting at 10:00 p.m. to meet the popular television Superstar LANCE CADE until 12 midnight. Dale Gagne’s WSL LIVE! appearances are produced by WSL, INC., a sports entertainment company based in the State of Minnesota. For more information, visit www.wrestlingsuperstarslive.com.

Dale,

So if I understand your post correctly, this guy is going to be wrestling at Mickey's? In their outdoor arena? At 10 PM? In January? In Minnesota?

I was thinking the same thing Brian.Hope he brings a winter coat or snow suit.It is supposed to be 0 for the low saturday night. Also, just a hunch but I don't think too many people will be calling that number for press credentials for a January outdoor event in Minnesota.

Isn't Mickey's "outdoor arena" an enclosed tent? I'm guessing they will pump a little heat in there, but it will still be cold!
