Watermelon madness

Here are a couple beautiful images to start the day with.

Hy-Vee at Crossroads in Rochester was kind enough to invite me to participate in its annual eating frenzy again this year.

Last year is was ice cream. This year it was watermelon. A deceptively difficult food to eat quickly. You can pack a lot in, but suddenly you have a huge mouthful that still needs chewing.

I ate about 1.4 pounds of watermelon in 2 minutes, which was woefully short of the winner's 2.2 pounds tally. He works for Pepsi and sat next to the Coke guy. I think that spurred them both on. Many competitors were at the 1.7 level.

102 the Fox's Dave Berg, the clean shaven fellow next to me had a difficult road to hoe. I believe that gave him the plate of tough watermelon. He did not break a pound, but he was a true competitor to the end.

And soon he will paint his upper end (his head, actually) to resemble a watermelon. Now that will look good on the radio. heh.

"have a huge mouthful that still needs."

What kind of needs Jeff?

After eating that much watermelon, I'm sure there were several trips made to the restroom. Great work guys!

"chewing" is the missing word, RochLib.
