Shoppes on Maine update
The Shoppes on Maine development along South Broadway continues to develop. Here are a few new moves:

• Dick’s Sporting Goods opened today.

• A sign for Mattress Giant went up on a building between Target and Lowe’s.
• Work is underway on a Subway sandwich place in the Mattress Giant building.

• Galaxy 14 Cine, the new movie complex, will open to the public Nov. 2.

Dick's is open? I promise I won't tell anyone. ;-)

Dick's is open, and honestly I think it is a very depressing store. Not much more than a glorified Sports Authority. Where is the climbing wall, where are the golf simulators, where is anything different... Retailers are ignoring Rochester… the third largest city in the state should at least be deserving of some attention, something different, something new. But yet, we get the same crap on a different side of town. Where is Pottery Barn, Banana Republic, Jason's Deli, Champps, Whole Foods, C'mon isn't it time???

The best part of Dicks was the news I heard from some of the employees - a Fuddruckers and Sonic are going in down there :)

Yes, please turn us into a clone of every other American city. Bleh.

Some of those stores/restaurants may make Rochester just like every other city, but maybe some variation on the listed businesses would actually give Rochester some much needed variety.
