More on Chester's @ Galleria

Here's more on the new restaurant coming to the Galleria. I had a nice chat co-owner Pat Woodring about the project amid the chaos of the Business After Hours Extra.

Food is coming back to Rochester's Galleria Mall.

Two Edina restauranteers - Pat Woodring and Chef Scott Foster - plan to open a new place by early summer on the first level of the Galleria, across from Sopra Sotto and Counterpoint.

While it will be on the ground floor, the name is still somewhat up in the air.

"The leading choice for a name is Chester’s," says Woodring, thought that could change. It is derived from Rochester.

Woodring, who was in Rochester last week, says he and his partner are eager to help "reshape" the Galleria.

To do that, they are creating as new concept of an upscale casual restaurant that will focus on American comfort food. Using 5,000 square feet, they plan to have 150 seats and a bar area. Taking advantage of the public plaza being developed by the Galleria, it will also have a patio area with a fire pit.

He says to expect dishes like roasted turkey, meatloaf, Iowa pork chops, rotissarie chicken, steaks and award-winning ribs. Foster's dishes have "great flavors," he says.

What about the lunch crowd that formerly swarmed the now closed Food Court on the Galleria's third floor?

Woodring says lunch will be a big part of the picture and the main focus of the restaurant will be on serving Rochester's residents. Weekend brunches are also being planned.

"We will be price sensitive," he said.
