The latest on flood potential from tonight's expected deluge, from Rochester emergency management:
The flooding potential has increased across southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa. Due to this, the Flood Watch has been expanded south. Widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches are likely across the area through Wednesday night. Where storms move over the same area, rainfall totals could be in the excess of 6 inches. There could be the potential for a significant flooding event across northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin.
Thunderstorms will become more numerous late this afternoon and continue into tonight. These storms will be capable of producing flooding, damaging winds, and maybe an isolated tornado. The greatest threat looks to be along and south of Interstate 90.
The threat continues to gradually shift south of Wednesday and Wednesday evening.
