FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING SUSPECTS
RE: Police vehicle vandalism
On the morning of Saturday June 28th, 2014 Chief of Police Shannon Boerner was notified of significant vandalism to our secondary patrol vehicle. It is a 2007 Crown Victoria, white in color with police markings. It was parked at the city maintenance shop, situated between South Street and Eugene Street, north of the ball diamond. When officers arrived to look at the vehicle it was discovered that both driver’s side tires were slashed, along with the rear passenger side tire. It also appeared that the trunk had been damaged, during an attempt to gain access to the trunk area.
We have the following investigative leads:
-The incident happened sometime between the hours of 3:30 A.M. and 8:40 A.M. on Saturday morning (overnight Friday night)
-At approximately 3:35 A.M. two males, approximately 6 feet, 1 inches in height, dressed in all black were seen fleeing the area, through an alley directly across the street, to the west of the city shop, where the squad car was parked.
- Each tire has a single slash, approximately 1 inch in diameter, that appears to have been done with an edged weapon.
-We do not know if this was done by a resident of the city or by someone outside of the city.
We are requesting the public’s help in identifying both suspects, tools/weapons used, clothing or weapons that may have been discarded of or if anyone saw anything out of the ordinary at that time (around 3:30 A.M.)
If you have any questions on this matter, please feel free to contact me at 507-527-2870. There is no sensitive or un-releasable information in this media release, please feel free to share as much as you can in hopes that we may obtain the information we need to make arrests for this senseless act, that has temporarily taken away a critical resource from our small police department.
