A public letter this morning from interim Chamber President Jerry Williams:
February 13, 2014
Members of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce:
I'm honored to serve as your Interim President and continue the momentum of this outstanding organization. The Board and Past-President John Wade have positioned us well for a future that appears very bright, not only for the Chamber but also for this community and region. It's a privilege to be a part of it.
Under the leadership of Board Chair Brent Buchan, a search committee is actively beginning the process to find a new president. Besides Brent, other members of the committee are:
Melissa Brinkman Elaine Garry
Mike Busch Scott Heck
Lisa Clarke Dharani Ramamoorthy
Alan De Keyrel Sue Reinke-Walch
At the last meeting, the committee unanimously chose to partner with a long-time Chamber member and local business, the Specialized Recruiting Group with Express Personnel. Led by Norm Doty, Jeff Jensen and Brad Trahan, we are confident that they will work very hard for us in the coming weeks/months. Not only are they local but their network provides opportunities to broadcast our opening anywhere we want it to go. In other words, their recruitment reach is as wide as we want it to be. They also have a deep understanding of our community and this Chamber. We are confident that this will be a good fit.
In the coming weeks and in cooperation with Express, an updated job description will be finalized, the posting will be created and the vacancy placed on various sites. When available, that link will be publicized. Applications will then be accepted, based on the posting, and a process set up for interviews and all the other things that take place when a vacancy such as this exists.
This is a membership-driven organization, and for the search committee and the board to do their best when hiring a new president, they need to hear from you. To do this, an anonymous, very short yet important survey will be sent via Survey Monkey to you on Monday morning, February 17. The link will be up for only three days and will be taken down by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. I assure you that it is short and will take only a couple minutes to complete. The data will be aggregated by themes and demographics and available to the committee as it continues the search. Please help us with this very important task.
Thank you for your continued support of the Chamber. With over 1400 members and an exciting, challenging and ever-changing future in front of us, we are poised to take the next steps forward. It will indeed be an exciting journey.
