This is interesting: PolyMet Mining, which as you may know is proposing a controversial copper-nickel mining operation in the Hoyt Lakes area, is the "Gold Sponsor" of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce's Legislative Session Preview on Feb. 6.
I wonder why? What do they want?
Mayo is the "Sustaining Sponsor" for the preview and one might also ask, what does Mayo want? But Mayo sponsors everything around here, to one degree or another. I'm not aware of PolyMet having invested in any pancake breakfasts, theater events or anything else down here.
But PolyMet does want its name attached to the legislative preview hosted by the Rochester area's top business lobbying organization. That seems like a muscular way of putting the PolyMet imprimatur on this policy discussion.
