Here's the plan for Rochester's Veterans Day program:
The 13th annual Veterans Day program will be held Monday, November 11, at 10:30 at the Event Center near the Rochester Airport.
This event is put on by the volunteers from the Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial committee, the DAV, the Explorer Post, POW/MIA Riders Association, and other volunteers.
Free breakfast, courtesy of Canadian Honker and the Event Center, will be served from 8:30 to 10:00 followed by the program at 10:30.
The MC for this event will be the KTTC TV New Anchor, Robin Wolfram.
This hour long program will include Colonel Rodney Peterson retired, speaking on “Veterans are Citizens” Kay Swenson Gold Star Mother of fallen hero Curt Swenson, and Chad Stowers on “Why Join a Military Organization. Area Color and Honor Guards will perform the Color March and, Officer Carrie Koehler will give her rendition of the National Anthem. Pastor Dave Berg of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church will give the invocation and benediction and Pastor Phil Shaw will return from St Michaels to read a special poem by Jane Belau and give a short talk to the Veterans.
Golf carts will furnish transportation for those who need assistance from the parking lot.
A lot of time and effort has been spent to show our veterans our love and appreciation so it is hoped that people will turn out to show their support for our veterans.
