Here's a heads-up from Xcel:
On Thursday, Sept. 5, from approximately 7-11 a.m, Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant will conduct its annual medical drill. As part of this year’s drill, the site will demonstrate its ability to safely and effectively respond to a medical emergency using air ambulance transportation of a simulated injured individual. There will be no actual transport of an individual, but there will be a helicopter used. The drill scenario includes landing a helicopter on the landing pad located just outside the plant’s owner controlled area, which is near the softball fields, adjacent to the guard shack. Plant emergency medical technicians, security officers, the Red Wing Fire Department and the Rochester Mayo Clinic’s “Mayo 1” air transport will participate in the drill.
Wanted to provide you with a heads-up should the helicopter prompt calls to your office.
