Check this out -- Kevin Damgard, a board member of the Eastside Pioneers Neighborhood Association, which as you may recall has been in the news recently, posted this on the local blog called Americans Against Agenda 21, in the News from the Neighborhood section.
Without going into detail here on Agenda 21, which is a theme of far-right fringe groups concerned about private property rights, among other things, this is what Damgard has to say about RNeighbors, the organization that oversees and helped establish neighborhood associations in the city. (The organization's full name, by the way, is the Rochester Neighborhood Resource Center, which better explains what its role is.) After the recent dustup over the controversial leadership of the Eastside Pioneers, Damgard posted this:
I will now go as far as to say, I feel Rneighbors is an infiltration of the neighborhood associations, by the City Council for (power and influence). I also say Rneighbors is a service to provide distraction from the real issues facing our neighborhoods, and they use P&I to promote like minded people to seek control of the neighborhood associations from within like ESPNA has had to deal with. ..
I say it is time to fight back! A cadre for a cadre, as a fire to fight a fire. I would like to start a coalition, and petition to force our city council to cease funding this organization which operates like the long-arm of the law, and a private club. As the established definer and propagated great provider of all things wonderful, green, and Eco-Friendly and therefore “Good” Rneighbors has out-purposed itself in our community. It is just another beggar 501(c)(3) dot org, groveling for more and more of the “Free” money. Our tax money.
Now, the hard part. I need your help and support. Like most of you, I work and have a home to keep up with. I would like to see a board setup and a president elected from it. Please let me know by e-mail if you can help and to what degree you can.
Leadership needs to be established and points discussed. I would also like to keep updates sent to you. I hope I am in the right place. It will take real and true patriots, red and blue, who know what is right, and what is out of bounds when it comes to funding activist entities with our tax dollars. Together we can show the begging tax funded groups the door. This is only a small first step. We have other infiltration of activists in other public areas of our community. Organizations who receive our money, which are pushing propaganda, to make you live the way they feel you should, to sacrifice yourself for the so called “greater good.”
There's more to be reported on this, and plenty more out-there commentary on this blog. If you have an interest in what's going on in that neighborhood association, and wonder why there's such polarization, this is a good place to start.
