From RPD Capt. Brian Winters:
· On 2-16-13 at 1440 hours the Rochester Police Department was dispatched to 22 SW 3rd Street Rochester (John Kruessel’s General Merchandise) on a report of theft. Upon arrival officers meet with the complainant an employee of the store a 66year old male, who reported the theft. The complainant reported that the suspects two black males described as follows both 6’-0” tall, wearing dark colored wool jackets and dark colored hats one estimated to be in his 20’s and weighing approximately 170 lbs. and the other being around 30 years of age and weighing 200 lbs. entered to the store together. One of the subjects distracted the (Complainant) clerk in the back of the store and the other suspect remained near the front of the store. After a brief moment the suspects left the store and shortly thereafter the clerk realized that the suspect that remained near the front of the store had apparently stolen numerous rings from a display case. Reported missing were numerous items of gold jewelry including approximately 48 rings, several necklaces, and a tiffany gold watch. An inventory of items taken will be made but the loss is expected to several thousand dollars.
· On 2-15-13 at approximately 2230 hours the Rochester Police Department responded to the 800 block of West Center Street on a report of suspicious person with a handgun. Upon police arrival the suspect was gone and could not be located in the area. The complainant a 24 year old male reported to police that he lives in the area, as he was preparing to leave his residence he heard a verbal argument outside. As the complainant left his residence he observed a black male suspect described as 20-25 years of age wearing a back pull over jacket and tennis shoes. This suspect was holding a hand gun and pointed it in the direction of the complainant and told him to leave the area. The complainant quickly exited the area and called police to report the suspect with the gun. Officers checked the area and could not locate the suspect. There were no related calls to a verbal dispute nor were there any reports of shots being fired in the area.
