Topic for the next Post-Bulletin Dialogues meeting? Destination Medical Center, Mayo's initiative that could pump more than $3 billion in new investment from Mayo into the Rochester area over the next 20 years, leveraging a projected $2 billion in private development and about $600 million in state and local infrastructure spending.
We're set for 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Rochester Public Library auditorium.
Joining me at the front table: Dr. Brad Narr, medical director for the DMC initiative; Lisa Clarke, Mayo's lead administrator on the project; John Wade, the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce president; and hoping for Mayor Ardell Brede as well. I think we'll leave it at that, at the front table, rather than involve legislators who are getting the thing moving in St. Paul; we might take a second bite of the apple in March, when the process has moved ahead further. This first one will be more informational and hopefully will provide basic information on a plan that Rep. Mike Benson of Rochester has called "the most important economic development legislation in Minnesota in 50 years or a century."
