UPDATING THE NEWS:
MOVED/ 21Thompson sidebar (Weiss, 15 inches w/pic) You tried to work on the William A. Thompson because the money was good; you stayed because the friendship was great. Keith Graham of Hokah, who worked on the now-retired dredge for 11 years, said working conditions were often harsh. It was usually noisy, too hot or too cold outside, definitely too hot inside, and the wind could be downright nasty. But he stayed because of “the camaraderie” and the satisfaction of keeping the main channel of the Mississippi River open for towboats to push barges up and down the river.
