High school football picks | State semifinals
FELDY: So, Phersy clearly cheated last week and now we're tied with records of 55-27. And we're running out of teams, though congrats to the four Section 1 champs from our coverage area who are in this week's state semifinals.
I'll list the four games we're picking, then I'll pick first this week.
THIS WEEK'S GAMES
NINE-MAN
Grand Meadow (11-1) vs. South Ridge (10-1)
CLASS AA
Caledonia (11-0) vs. BOLD (11-0)
CLASS AAA
Lourdes (12-0) vs. Annandale (10-1)
CLASS AAAAA
Owatonna (11-0) vs. St. Thomas Academy (10-1)
* * * * *
FELDY: Here I go, let's see if I can hold off Phersy's late rally.
NINE-MAN
Grand Meadow 36, South Ridge 18: The Larks are rolling and they have a healthy Perry Stejskal in the backfield again. He's a beast and gives the Larks a formidable 1-2 rushing punch, along with Landon Jacobson.
CLASS AA
Caledonia 20, BOLD 8: I don't have to justify picking the Warriors. Their 'D' is that good.
CLASS AAA
Lourdes 33, Annandale 26: Annandale can score a little bit. So can Lourdes.
CLASS AAAAA
St. Thomas Academy 24, Owatonna 17: I shouldn't have picked against Owatonna last week, but this week is a tougher task. The Huskies are facing an STA team that hasn't had a team come within three touchdowns of it in the past month.

PHERSY: Hey Feldy, remember when the Red Sox trailed the Yankees 3 games to none in the 2004 playoffs and then came back to win? That's like this ... :-)
NINE-MAN
Grand Meadow 39, South Ridge 30: Yep, Grand Meadow might be headed for a title ... wouldn't surprise many people in this part of the state.
CLASS AA
Caledonia 20, BOLD 15: BOLD was the state's most dominant team for much of the season. But it slowed late, and Caledonia is playing its best football now. This could go either way.
CLASS AAA
Annandale 28, Lourdes 21: The road ends for the Eagles this week. Annandale survived a brutal regular-season schedule, and I think it pays off this week.
CLASS AAAAA
St. Thomas Academy 38, Owatonna 28: We lost another area team.
