Section 1A Semifinal | Lourdes 5, Red Wing 3, FINAL

Here we go ... Most Wonderful Time of the Year!! Section Semifinal Saturday at the Rec Center is less than 45 minutes from starting. Lourdes and Red Wing are on tap first. Warmups should be starting soon. I'll have scoring updates here and on Twitter (@PBFeldy), so follow along.

FIRST PERIOD

LOURDES 1, RW 0: Ryan Nicolay (Connor Nellans, Ben Weir) 5:42. After Nellans holds the puck in the zone near the blue line, he feeds Nicolay in the left circle and he scores on a bad-angle shot from below the dot.

RW 1, LOURDES 1: Jack Strusz (Taylor Hanson) 6:38. After a good cycle by the Wingers, Hanson feeds Strusz in the low slot for the tying goal.

RW 2, LOURDES 1: Alex Rezansoff (Strusz, Mike Stegora) 13:06. Strusz gets puck below the goal line and feeds Rezansoff in the low slot for a 1-timer. The goal comes just seconds after Lourdes had held the puck in the Wingers zone for more than two minutes.

RW 2, LOURDES 2: Karl Krecke (Jason Samuelson, Justin Dewitz) 16:48. While on a power play, Lourdes moves the puck quickly around on the perimeter and Krecke blasts a slapshot through traffic to tie the score with just 11.5 seconds to go in the period.

Shots on goal: Lourdes 14, Red Wing 8.

SECOND PERIOD

no scoring.

Shots on goal: Lourdes 19, Red Wing 17.

Notes: Lourdes killed off a 45-second 5-on-3 chance for Red Wing.

THIRD PERIOD

LOURDES 3, RW 2: Jason Samuelson (Alex Funk) 12:25. During a flurry in front of the Wingers goal, Funk throws a back-hander to the net that RW goalie Preston Blaney stops, but Samuelson puts the rebound high.

LOURDES 4, RW 2: Samuelson (unassisted) 14:44. A WIngers defender turns the puck over in front of his goalie, Samuelson picks it up and beats Blane.

LOURDES 4, RW 3: Strusz (Stegora) 15:06. Strusz scores on a soft wrist shot with an extra attacker on the ice.

LOURDES 5, RW 3: Nicolay (unassisted) 16:45. Nicolay scores into an empty net from just inside of center ice.
