Hawaiian music arrives in Austin

Grammy Award-winning guitarist George Kahumoku Jr. will bring the warm, breezy music of Hawaii to Austin for a concert at 3 p.m. Feb. 19 a the Paramount Theatre, 125 Fourth Ave. N.E.

Kahumoku, who lives on Maui, where he teaches music and tends to his farm, has participated in four recordings that won Grammys, including the most recent, "Treasures of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar," in 2009.

His latest project is "Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar, Vol. 3, Live from Maui," which features Kahumoku and traditional Hawaiian musicians.

Tickets for the Austin concert are $15 in advance, $18 at the door, $5 for students; (507) 434-0934.
