Wolves aching for dramatic trade

The Minnesota Timberwolves look awful, and are in a position to do something about it. But with Thursday being the NBA trading deadline, they’d better act quickly.

Minnesota has plenty of assets to do something dramatic, and something to show its small and frustrated fan base that it is serious about fielding a team worth paying attention to.

With three first-round picks coming its way this next draft, some promising youth on the roster, and a possible star in waiting in Ricky Rubio — the Wolves have enough assets to bring in a certifiable star before the trading deadline expires.

A trade package of Wesley Johnson, Rubio and their top two picks (the top one will be among the top six picks overall this summer) would be enough to bring Minnesota its first star since Kevin Garnett. An aside: Kevin Love is a very good player, but he’s not athletic enough to ever be a true superstar.

Wolves general manager David Kahn needs to do something. Fans and Wolves players alike are tired of all of the losing. Come on Kahn, act now.
